Position Summary

The Accounting Associate performs a wide range of clerical, accounting and bookkeeping functions to support ELCO.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs bank, register, PCB VS TB and ledger asset reconciliations

  • Assists with building and monitoring of internal accounting controls

  • Checks, verifies and processes payables and sets up vouchers

  • Processes premium payments, additional deposits, policy loans, NSF and policy reinstatements

  • Assists our internal staff with:

  • Calculating tax withholdings

  • Reversal/reissuing of payments

  • Accounting corrections

  • Schedule D and FMV updates

  • Annual and quarterly premium and municipal tax filings

  • Bond interest, reinsurance and mortgage payment accounting

  • Tracks and audits petty cash

  • Assists the HR dept

  • Reviews various reports on a daily basis

  • Processes other miscellaneous transactions.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High school diploma, GED or equivalent skills preferred.

  • Accounting/ bookkeeping experience preferred

  • Demonstrated experience in navigating through complex computer systems (internal as well as Microsoft Office) with minimal assistance required

  • Must be punctual, highly responsible and customer focused

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
